Fillings are required when there is decay on the tooth. As the tooth is now weaker, bacteria can spread more easily into the tooth causing pain, sensitivity, and sometimes abscess. Tooth decay should be treated as soon as possible before the more damage on the tooth occurs.

Crowns and Bridges

Crowns and bridges are like a protective cap or a helmet for the tooth. They not only strengthen the tooth but also provide aesthetic colour and shape.

Crowns have long been the time tested gold standard for dentists to restore broken down or missing teeth. Due to its superior design and material quality, crowns typically last between 7-15 years depending on the effectiveness and regularity of your dental hygiene routine buy facebook followers app. With that being said some crowns are known to last longer periods in patients with outstanding oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups.

Crowns are usually recommended for the following reasons:

  • After root canal procedures to provide structural strength for weak teeth
  • Heavily broken down teeth to prevent further decay and provide strength
  • To obtain better overall appearance
  • Missing teeth
  • Serve as a abutment for a denture

Bridges are longer span crowns that fill in the missing gaps between teeth.

However, they are often not suited for individuals with multiple missing teeth. In such cases implants could be a better option. See the section below for further information on “Implants”.

Implant

Currently implants are the gold standard in restoring missing teeth. An implant works by fusing with the underlying bone, providing the crown tooth with strength, stability and aesthetics.

Implants have the advantage of:

  • High success rate
  • Comfortable, functional and aesthetic
  • Competitive pricing when compared to traditional bridges
  • Minimal discomfort during the treatment (pain free in most patients)

Kita Dental has invested in a 3D scanner to increase the success rate in the implant procedure. Dr Kent Boon is also enrolled in a Masters of Oral Implantology at the University of Goethe in Frankfurt, Germany to expertise his knowledge in the latest treatment techniques.
